Generators for rational loop groups
Oliver Goertsches
(Koeln)
Abstract: Rational loop groups are subgroups of the group of meromorphic maps from the Riemann sphere into a fixed complex Lie group, e.g. GL(n,C). The talk will be centered around the problem of finding explicit and simple generators for such groups. We will give a solution to this question in some cases and, as an application, explain the method of Terng and Uhlenbeck how to use such generators to produce explicit solutions of certain partial differential equations.
Location: room 611 of the Wiskunde building (campus De Uithof) Budapestlaan 6, Utrecht.
Date and time: Thursday, October 22, 2009 15:30-16:30. The lecture is preceded by coffee, tea, and cookies from 15.00 to 15.30 hour in the same room.
