Elliptic Curves: complex multiplication, application, and generalization

Abstract: Some lattices inside the plane are mapped into themselves by acombination of scaling and rotating. This is called complexmultiplication, and turns out to have (through analysis, geometry, andalgebra) applications in both pure number theory, and daily life.
