ALAN WEINSTEIN IN UTRECHT

Utrecht University, March 2003



Alan Weinstein will be awarded a honorary doctorate by the University of Utrecht on the 26th of March (the Dies Natalis of the university; Eredoctoraten 2003). The "honorary promotors" are J.J.Duistermaat and I. Moerdijk. During that week there will be several activities related to Alan's visit here, closing with a one day of talks in his honour. Here are the more formal activities:




March 26: The official ceremony will take place in the Domkerk in Utrecht (Domplein, near the Dom, on the left of the Academiegebouw), and it starts at 15:00. The ceremony is open, but you need an invitation (you can write to P. Grondman at grondman@math.uu.nl and ask for one).


March 27: On March 27, Alan Weinstein will give a talk in the " Stafcolloquium". The talk will start at 15:30, in room K11 ( Mathematics Department), and will be preceded by tea and coffee (15:00, Eigenruimte).



March 28: We will have a one day symposium in honour of Alan Weinstein. The invited speakers are: R. Cushman (Utrecht University), Simone Gutt (Universite Libre de Bruxelles), Kirill Mackenzie (University of Sheffield) and Nguyen Tien Zung (Universite Toulouse). Here is the programme for the day:
