Research at the Utrecht Mathematical Institute

Under construction

Mathematics is the science of numbers, geometrical objects and structures. Experience proves that this abstract branch of science often provides the language for describing and understanding real world phenomena and the tools for the design of technology.
The Mathematical Institute of Utrecht University has the ambition to cover a broad range of active areas of research. In this way we aim for a stimulating research environment with ample opportunity for interaction between different fields. This interaction need not be restricted to areas within mathematics, contacts with physics, biology and technological applications play an equally important role in several of our research activities.
Research at the Mathematical Institute is carried out within the following areas:

These pages are under construction. In the links provided with this page we intend to give an informal description of mathematical research carried out at our institute. The goal is to inform future Master students and others interested in mathematical research.
