the language for describing and understanding real world phenomena
and the tools for the design of technology.
The Mathematical Institute of Utrecht University has the ambition to cover
a broad range of active areas of research. In this way we aim for a stimulating
research environment with ample opportunity for interaction between different
fields. This interaction need not be restricted to areas within mathematics,
contacts with physics, biology and technological applications play an equally important
role in several of our research activities.
