Mirror symmetry, Langlands duality and the Hitchin system

Abstract: In the first part I will discuss the three subjects in the title in general terms and describe how they  come together in various topological mirror symmetry conjectures in the study of the topology of certain moduli spaces; such as the space of representations of the fundamental group of a Riemann surface.

In the more technical second part I will describe two filtrations on the cohomology of our moduli spaces which are conjectured to agree. Then I explain how this answers three important questions  about the original topological mirror symmetry proposal.
