Abstract: We consider (analytic) ordinary differential equations on real or complex n-space that are symmetric with respect to a given linear group G. The focus of the talk will be on invariant sets "forced" by the symmetry group; in other words, invariant sets that are common to all G-symmetric differential equations. As it turns out, the problem can be reduced to certain algebraic sets. Several examples will be given to illustrate the results. (This is joint work in progress with F.D. Grosshans and J. Scheurle.)
