Abstract. Muqarnas - stalactite vaults- form an essential part of Islamic architecture. The first wirtten reference about the geometrical concepts date back to a treatise by he famous Islamic mathematician and astronomer al-Kashi (died 1429).

In the scope of our three year project "Computer Reconstruction of Muqarnas", we are analyzing muqarnas. I will show the video "Magic of Muqarnas", which gives an overview of different muqarnas styles. This video explains the construction and reconstruction of muqarnas and shows our first realizations of computer generated muqarnas.
