Mathematics in Delft

Abstract. My research currently focuses on the mathematics courses taught at the Delft Polytechnic between 1864 and 1922, especially those that were part of the Mechanical Engineering programme.
 
In this presentation, I will talk about the changes that these mathematics courses underwent. Special attention will be given to Jacob Cardinaal (1848--1922), who was professor of mathematics from 1893 to 1919 and mainly taught courses in kinematics.
